So I am not the only one facing a milestone birthday, Starbucks turns 40 today. To celebrate I am off trekking up to the base camp of Mount Everest, Starbucks have decided not to join me and instead are revealing a “new and improved” menu (some might call it a facelift at 40).
A limited number of flagship stores will also be officially unveiling the new logo signage and packaging today and there is also going to be a new advertising campaign with the key theme of “moments of connection” .
According to a press release, the new menu items are described as “a testament to the core of what Starbucks does best – premium handcrafted espresso and exceptional coffee and food offerings”.
Now I don’t actually drink coffee from Starbucks anymore, but there was a time that I was in there every day and I will always have a bit of a soft spot for them. They were a bit of a sanctuary for me when I worked back in London. I was working crazy hours and often “popping out to Starbucks” was the only break I got in my day. They also taught me to appreciate better coffee than what I had been used to drinking, and although I have gone on to stronger and blacker coffees I will always be grateful to them for putting me on the right road.
Happy Birthday Starbucks
